The Community Computer Academy (CCA)

Modeled after the highly successful City of Rochester’s “KidTech Program”, The Community Computer Academy is a grass roots effort to provide fundamental computer skills training for City of Rochester adults (over 17 years of age) over a five-week period, in their own neighborhoods.

Training topics include: Computing Basics; How to Operate And Interact With A Personal Computer; Keyboarding Skills; Using A Word-processor to Create Resumes And Letters; How To Search And Use The Internet For Personal, Educational, & Work Opportunities; and How To Obtain And Use Your Own Free e-Mail Account.  Program graduates receive an authorized copy of Microsoft Office to install in their home computer system.   Graduates not having a computer at home are qualified for a free refurbished computer system.

During the 2007 calendar year, 185 Adults were enrolled in the trainings. 97% (179) of the participants successfully completed their program and received a free refurbished computer system after graduation.
